User manual
Press the on/off button to start or stop the operation of the DT400. The unit automatically turns off after 35 minutes to save battery life. Press the ”°F/°C” button to select the Fahrenheit or Celsius scale.
MAX temperature: Press the ”MAX” button to display the maximum temperature recorded. To clear the MAX reading from memory, press the MAX button and the ”on/off” button simultaneously for 2 seconds to reset the unit to the current temperature display.
Data Hold: To hold a displayed reading, press the ”D-H” button. ”D-H” is displayed in the upper right corner of the screen while data hold is active. Press the button again to return to normal operation.
Battery removal: Use a flathead screwdriver or a coin to turn the battery cover counterclockwise for removal. Reinsert the battery and turn the cover clockwise until it is secure.
Field calibration procedures
1. The DT400 can only be calibrated in a slush ice solution (60% crushed ice and 40% tap water) or a water bath. Do not attempt to calibrate in any other manner.
2. Immerse the thermometer shaft to at least half its length in the slush ice solution.
3. Wait until the reading stabilizes (typically within ±2° of +32° F or ±1° of 0 ° C).
4. Press and hold the ”D-H” button for 8 seconds to initiate calibration.
5. ”CAL” is displayed in seconds, and calibration at 0 °C / +32 °F is complete.
6. Remove the thermometer from the ice water and continue taking measurements.
NOTE: ”CAL” will be displayed whenever the ”D-H” button is pressed for 7 seconds, but the thermometer will not recalibrate unless the probe tip is inserted into the ice.
