Compact Dry TC – for total bacterial count – 500 test plates per pack, 38210000, Japan

Compact Dry TC is a medium for total viable bacterial count, containing nutrient agar. Colonies grown on Compact Dry TC are red due to the redox indicator tetrazolium salt.
Regression line data from the Compact Dry TC method plotted against the conventional PCA method (standard plate count agar) shows good correlation per 100 food samples for the population of mesophilic aerobic microorganisms. Compact Dry TC is AOAC-, MicroVal- and NordVal-approved.

Incubation time and temperature: 48 ± 3 hours at the temperature recommended by AOAC 35 ± 2 °C, NordVal / MicroVal 30 ± 2 °C

Sample preparation Viable count
in water or liquid food
Dispense 1 ml of sample (dilute if necessary) onto the center of the Compact Dry plate.
Viable count in solid food
Add buffer solution to the sample and homogenize with a Stomacher®. Dispense 1 ml of sample (dilute if necessary) onto the center of the dry pad on the Compact Dry plate.
Viable count in swab test samples
Use the cotton swab to wipe the surface, insert it into the device with the elution solution. Dispense 1 ml of elution solution (dilute if necessary) onto the center of the Compact Dry plate. It is recommended to use ”Swab for Compact Dry” offered by HyServe Id no. 1 002 952/3 (40/240 pieces).
Test instructions
1. Open the lid and dispense 1 ml of sample onto the center of the Compact Dry plate.
2. The sample automatically and evenly diffuses into the pad, converting the dry pad into a gel within seconds.
3. Replace the lid on the plate and write the required information in the memo section.
4. Turn the covered plate over and place it in the incubator.
5. After incubation, count the number of colored colonies under the plate. White paper placed under the plate helps in counting the colonies.
