Description
Adapter for ball probes (M2.5/M4) is a Schwenk ball probe — the spring-loaded contact element that rides on the bore wall during measurement with a Schwenk internal measuring instrument. The probe is a wear item that is replaced periodically to maintain the host instrument’s accuracy within published tolerances.
Hardened, ground steel; the ball’s deviation diameter is tightly controlled at the manufacturing stage, and the probe is supplied with calibration documentation. Match the thread to the host instrument (M1.6, M2, M2.5, or M3 depending on the Schwenk model). Replacing a worn probe restores the host instrument’s measurement accuracy without requiring a full instrument service.
Usage: unscrew the worn probe from the measuring head, clean the thread seat with a degreaser to remove any residual chips, screw in the new probe to its torque specification, and then verify zero against a Schwenk setting ring at nominal diameter. The replacement is a routine workshop maintenance step; no special tools are required other than a small screwdriver or hex key for the locking screw on certain models.
